Penalty for Alexandria Reckless Driving Charges
Alexandria reckless driving charges are misdemeanors. Alexandria reckless driving charges are punished with:
- up to 12 months in jail
- a fine up to $2,500 (with a mandatory minimum fine of $250 if the driver was also texting while driving)
- mandatory court costs if convicted
- driver’s license suspension up to 6 months
- DMV demerit points
- possible enrollment in the Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Program (ASAP)
Most importantly, an Alexandria reckless driving conviction will remain on a driver’s permanent criminal record and cannot be expunged.
