The installation of an Ignition Interlock in Virginia is required after many DUI convictions. The device prevents a car from starting if it detects alcohol on the driver’s breath or if the driver fails to take re-tests during random intervals while operating the vehicle. The device must be installed for at least 12 months without any alcohol-related violations.
