Reckless driving is a Class 1 misdemeanor, punished with up to 12 months in jail, a fine up to $2,500, and driver’s license suspension up to 6 months. Additionally, a conviction for Reckless Driving in Virginia will automatically result in 6 DMV demerit points. Accumulating too many demerit points in a short period of time can lead to driver’s license suspension by the DMV.
