What is a Schedule III Controlled Substance in Virginia

Va. Code §54.1-3449 explains what is considered a Schedule III controlled Substnce in Virginia.  It states:

  • The substance has the potential to be abused but it is not as high as the drugs covered in Schedules I and II
  • it has accepted medical use
  • abuse of the substance is likely to lead to a low level of physical dependence and a high level of psychological dependence

Proof of Possession of Schedule III Controlled Substance

Penalties for Possession of Schedule III Controlled Substance in Virginia

Va. Code §18.2-250 states that Possession of a Schedule III controlled substance in Virginia is a Class 1 misdemeanor.  It is punished with up to 12 months in jail and a fine up to $2500.
